My final project for Digital Video Editing at the University of Baltimore was to create a series of social media videos for a local business or service of some kind. During that same semester, I was taking a course on Electronic Publishing in which the students were charged with selecting material for, and then editing, the online version of the University's literary magazine, "Welter." I came up with the idea of combining the two. The requirement was to conduct at least one interview related to the topic, film "B-roll," and then combine them with appropriate graphics to create four videos. Ten seconds, thirty seconds, one minute, and two minutes.

Two minute Welter video.

One minute Welter video.

Thirty second Welter video.

Ten second Welter video.

"Walking in Nature" is a brief interview with my mother on her preferred method of exercise. After spinal surgery, most forms of exercise were very difficult and her balance was further effected by her multiple sclerosis. She found that walking was not only an exercise she could do but helped her in her daily life.
Up Against the Wall was the center piece of my Senior Thesis for my Masters degree at Bowie State University. The video was projected onto a wall of the gallery, life sized, on a loop, to give the impression of an extended room. The performers are all students from the various art programs of the University; graphic design, music, drama, and dance. Any student who wished to participate was instructed to come up with a simple character concept or costume and were given instructions on how to manipulate the frames hung on a large green screen. The frames were all empty and art was digitally added in post.
This was my very first foray into digital cinematography. The assignment was to create a narrative without any dialogue or captioning. It also had to be shot in chronological order and rendered in black and white. Much of the credit goes to Shaunté Tabb, who not only volunteered for this project, but even managed to cry on cue. It's quick but you can spot it at the 1:40 mark.

This is version is up-scaled to 1080p from the original 480p version. I also added a couple of out-takes just for fun.
